This role focuses on managing technical operations and maintenance in enterprise data centers, specifically concerning critical facilities infrastructure like BMS systems, electrical switchgear, and cooling systems. The engineer will oversee third-party vendors, manage infrastructure upgrade projects, ensure reliability and uptime, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and maintain compliance with safety regulations. Key responsibilities include inspecting and testing critical equipment, managing preventive maintenance, and optimizing energy management controls. The role requires strong technical expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, vendor management, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage third-party vendor teams (electrical, mechanical, and facilities partners).
  2. Manage Projects to upgrade critical infrastructure in a live data center.
  3. Make proactive, data-driven decisions to prevent downtime and ensure reliability.
  4. Troubleshoot and take corrective action for malfunctions in HVAC, refrigeration, pumps, fans, coils, and other critical equipment.
  5. Oversee daily operations, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and compliance standards.

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas (or a combination): Medium-voltage electrical distribution and controls, including emergency power.
  • Mechanical systems (HVAC, chillers, utility plant operations).
  • Building management and automation controls.
  • Vendor and contract management
  • Experience with systems engineering projects and agile collaboration.
  • Strong knowledge of utility plant systems and ability to lead work on electrical and mechanical components.
  • Hands-on experience supervising vendors and contractors.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and operational safety standards.
  • Strong computer literacy and grasp of Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, NFPA codes, and industry compliance frameworks.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, information technology, or related area.
  • 3 years’ experience in technology infrastructure engineering across areas such as compute, storage, network, mobility or virtualization related technologies.
