UX Researcher for Google DeepMind's AI products, focusing on early-stage (0 to 1) product development. Responsibilities include designing and executing research studies, understanding user needs for new AI technologies, and influencing product strategy. The role requires comfort with ambiguity and rapid evolution in the AI space.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner closely with multidisciplinary team members across the exploration lifecycle within the Inception team.
  2. Design, lead and execute research studies, along with or in collaboration with other UX researchers.
  3. Stay on the vanguard of AI products through daily tool use, experimentation, and exploration.
  4. Cultivate an informed POV on how technical capabilities will line up with user needs.
  5. Provide actionable insights that directly influence product strategy.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience with research methods (e.g., usability studies, contextual inquiries, 1:1 interviews, and unmoderated research studies).
  • Experience with research design (e.g., in-depth interviews, concept research, usability studies, and surveys).

Nice to have

  • Master's degree or PhD(in progress or completed) in Anthropology, Human Factors, Social Sciences, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, Product Design, Cognitive Psychology, or other field.
  • Experience leveraging a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis techniques in highly disciplinary environments.
  • Experience working with agencies or directing other research groups to craft and direct field research.
  • Experience conducting global market research.
  • Experience using AI to benefit humanity, including communities currently neglected by technology.
  • Ability to create powerful research outputs used to inspire and influence stakeholders (e.g., multimedia stories, video editing).
