As an Interaction Designer, you'll apply user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences from concept to execution, working with design partners to evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative products.
As a User Experience (UX) Designer for Google TV, you will be the primary user advocate for the millions of people who gather in the living room. You will work closely with connected ecosystem teams like Photos, Smart Home and Google Play, contributing to experiences beyond traditional media and entertainment on Google TV. You will be a strategic thinker who anticipates shifts in the lean back experience and uses AI powered tools to prototype the future. You will ensure that as Google TV evolves, it remains accessible, intuitive, and ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing digital landscape.Google TV is redefining the TV experience to make it highly personalized, Google-smart, and content-forward to help users access the world’s media. Through recent launches like Chromecast with Google TV, we bring together the best of Google. Google TV is focused on scaling across the OEM ecosystem; working closely with third-party streaming partners plus many teams across Google (for example: Ads, Play, and YouTube); and building a business on TV platforms, OTT devices, and mobile devices. Responsibilities
- Represent the user in every product discussion, ensuring that platform requirements never compromise the core human experience.
- Integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into your design process to explore and rapidly iterate on predictive interfaces that anticipate user intent.
- Define and prototype how users will interact with TVs next, moving fluidly between voice, gesture, and AI-motivated inputs.
- Manage the design lifecycle for the TV Operating System (OS), from initial identifying of user friction to delivering polished, high-impact solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Managers (PMs) and engineers to translate business goals into design strategies that uphold Google’s high bar for craft and innovation. Lead the growth of the Google TV Design System, ensuring it stays modern, scalable, and adaptable to the latest global design trends and partner needs.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience with interaction design in product design or User Experience (UX) design.
- Experience in User Experience (UX) with visual design (e.g., typography, color theory, and visual storytelling) and figma and other tools.
- Include a portfolio centered on consumer products for Android or 10-foot interfaces link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
- 1 year of experience leading design projects.
- Experience designing for TV, Mobile (e.g., Android) and other device form factors.
- Portfolio documents practical examples of leveraging AI workflows in the design process.
