Vehicle Thermal Systems CAE Engineer responsible for analyzing the vehicle climate system that cools and heats the vehicle cabin and battery. The engineer will use various CAE methods to quantify component and system level design impacts on climate system performance and power consumption. Specific studies may include vehicle level climate performance predictions, refrigerant subsystem analysis, heater subsystem analysis, front end airflow, power consumption analysis, and review of physical test data.

What you'd actually do

  1. Analyzing the vehicle climate system that cools and heats the vehicle cabin and battery.
  2. Use various CAE methods to quantify component and system level design impacts on climate system performance and power consumption.
  3. Perform vehicle level climate performance predictions, refrigerant subsystem analysis, heater subsystem analysis, front end airflow, power consumption analysis, and review of physical test data.

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Testing, analyzing, and designing automotive thermal systems utilizing concepts from fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heater transfer, and combustion.
  • 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 2. Modeling and conducting thermal/fluid CAE simulations using Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or GT-Suite.
  • 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 3. Utilizing CAD software tools including CATIA or Teamcenter to view or modify vehicle systems and components.
  • 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Testing and analyzing vehicle climate control performance using thermal data acquisition systems, CANoe, or MATLAB to validate test results and support CAE model development.
  • 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 2. Designing Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) thermal systems using one of the following thermal modeling applications: Fluent, STAR-CCM, or GT- Suite.
