Veterinary Technician III

Chewy Vet Care is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician III to join their Healthcare Practice Team. This role involves providing high-level veterinary medical care, supporting the practice's team, managing inventory, mentoring team members, and handling client complaints. The technician will also be responsible for patient care, including blood transfusions, anesthesia monitoring, and wound care, as well as acting as a PIMS administrative super-user and managing controlled substance logs. The position requires a background in veterinary technology and strong communication and client interaction skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve to support the practice’s team, setting the bar for providing high-level, proficient veterinary medical care and embodying the Chewy mission to work together with your peers and deliver the pet parent WOW experience.
  2. Responsible for implementing the outlined policies and procedures, using integrated technology, and delivering consistent and appropriate medical care within the given skills.
  3. All listed technician skills (Veterinary Technician I and Veterinary Technician II) along with skills such as team member training, inventory management, mentoring Team Members, and handling client complaints.
  4. Patient care (blood transfusion, Oxygen cage, cardiac monitoring); dentistry; wound care; catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring (unstable, high-risk patients) and performing functions that require handling animal bodily fluids and tissues.
  5. Be a PIMS administrative super-user and aid others on the team in their use of the technology.

Skills

Required

  • Successful completion of an accredited veterinary technology program
  • current licensure is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to complete the veterinary technician skills checklist for Veterinary Technician III
  • 5+ years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in practice is preferred
  • Strong ability to connect with clients and demonstrate compassion
  • Excellent verbal / written communication, observational, and analytical skills
  • Thrives in a fast paced, self-starter environment
