About Team PICO’s Imaging Systems & Human Engineering team is looking for passionate and versatile imaging experts to work on next-generation imaging algorithms that deliver top-tier visual experiences across PICO products, from camera capture to display rendering.
Our team focuses on the end-to-end imaging pipeline, bridging camera systems, display technologies, and human visual perception. We develop and evaluate imaging algorithms that span optical design, digital image processing, computer vision, and system-level optimization, with a strong emphasis on image quality, efficiency, and real-world user experience.
Team members play a key role in shaping both technology direction and productization roadmaps, contributing to the future of imaging technologies and their applications in VR / MR / AR devices
As a Vision Algorithm Evaluation Engineer, you will independently evaluate and analyze vision algorithms across imaging and perception pipelines, ensuring algorithm quality, robustness, and system efficiency. This role requires a strong algorithmic background, enabling deep technical insight rather than black-box testing, and plays a critical role in guiding technology and product decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design test scenes, datasets, and evaluation protocols that reflect real-world VR/MR/AR usage scenarios.
- Develop evaluation frameworks and interfaces to support consistent assessment of internal and external vision algorithms.
- Define and evolve evaluation metrics covering image quality, perception accuracy, robustness, latency, and system efficiency.
- Perform in-depth technical analysis of imaging and CV algorithms, understanding root causes behind performance differences.
- Benchmark third-party and academic algorithms, assessing technical value, system impact, and integration risks.
- Produce clear, data-driven technical reports with actionable recommendations for algorithm selection and optimization.
- Work closely with algorithm, camera, display, and product teams while maintaining independent technical judgment.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong foundation in computer vision and imaging algorithms
- Proficiency in Python and C++.
- Experience building evaluation, benchmarking, or analysis frameworks.
- Strong analytical thinking and technical communication skills.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience evaluating algorithms under real-time, power, and memory constraints.
- Familiarity with perceptual image quality, human visual factors, and system-level evaluation methodologies.
- Experience working with cross-functional or external algorithm partners.
