Visual Production Designer, Packaging

Verkada is seeking a Visual Production Designer to create high-quality packaging, labels, and visual assets for their AI-powered physical security platform. The role involves collaborating with design and engineering teams, managing production files, overseeing print processes, and working with vendors to ensure global scale and quality standards are met. The designer will also identify and implement process improvements.

What you'd actually do

  1. Create scalable printed and digital assets that reinforce our visual language and company values, which can be adapted across Verkada's diverse portfolio.
  2. Collaborate with industrial design and hardware engineering teams to create clean, consistent packaging and label artwork.
  3. Prepare production-ready files and oversee proofing and production processes to ensure accuracy and quality.
  4. Manage vendor communications by providing clear artwork and dieline specifications, coordinating feedback, and resolving production issues.
  5. Conduct vendor site visits and press checks to review proofs, validate materials, and address production challenges.

Skills

Required

  • website or digital portfolio with examples of visual design for hardware and/or packaging assets
  • Bachelor's degree in Design or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a Production Designer for Visual Design
  • Experience with high-volume print production processes
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Mandarin
  • Consistency in visual composition with high attention to detail
  • Extensive knowledge of typography and graphic design conventions
  • High level of organization and communication skills to support collaborators across the organization with assets and clear directives
  • Proficient in 2D digital tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and production timelines
  • Ability to generate and communicate vision, or embrace and extend existing solutions
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 15% of the time

Nice to have

  • Experience tuning artwork applications on 3D surfaces across different materials (i.e. pad printing, laser etching, etc.)
  • Experience working in enterprise or consumer electronics
  • Experience working with graphic requirements for electronic product certifications, like UL, CE, etc.
