Warfighter Systems - Senior Technical Writer

Anduril Anduril · Defense · Costa Mesa, CA · Programs : Deployments : Technical Writing

Senior Technical Writer for a defense technology company that builds AI-powered military systems. The role focuses on creating user documentation for these systems, partnering with engineering and operations teams. Responsibilities include generating, reviewing, and editing user-focused documentation, researching products, scoping deliverables for DOD customers, and writing in specific XML formats (MIL-STD-40051-E). The writer will also help build a culture of technical documentation and refine product maturity frameworks.

What you'd actually do

  1. Generate, review, and edit documentation that is user-focused. Work with Engineering and Operations to deliver task, conditions, standard-centric documentation
  2. Research Anduril products and scope Tech Data deliverables for Programs of Record with DOD customers, and write Data Modules in Mil-Std-40051-E XML, using Raytheon Eagle (eventually migrating to Rapid Author)
  3. Evaluate and prioritize tasks required to successfully support product documentation efforts and keep them on track. Help drive the best decision for the company by using a data-driven approach and consider input from stakeholders to ensure well-informed decisions. You should be prepared to fill gaps that represent risks to the documentation roadmap
  4. Communicate and help manage expectations. Ensure risks are noted with adequate time, mitigations are identified, and resources are allocated
  5. Help build a culture of technical documentation by creating process and training for others to contribute content. Refine our product maturity framework so that documentation is a meaningful step towards productization of new systems
