Boeing is hiring a Welder specializing in tubes and ducts for their Commercial Airplanes division. This role involves executing various machine welding techniques, selecting appropriate materials and settings, setting up workpieces, and interpreting technical documentation. The position requires physical capability, adherence to safety standards, and maintaining certifications. Experience with GTAW and Microsoft Office is required, with TIG experience preferred. The role is onsite and requires US Person status for export control compliance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Execute machine welding techniques, including plasma arc, gas tungsten arc, electro slag, gas metal arc, and submerged arc welding. Make necessary adjustments during the welding process to accommodate variations in thickness, misalignment, gaps, equipment anomalies, and assembly fit-up
  2. Select appropriate electrodes, gas cups, weld current, arc voltage, travel speed, gas flow, wire size, and feed rate according to the weld schedule or provided specifications, ensuring accurate seam tracking as needed
  3. Set up and align workpieces in welding fixtures, blocking parts as necessary to ensure stability and precision during the welding process
  4. Utilize various types of welding equipment, selecting the proper tips, electrodes, voltage, amperage, pressure, and flux, while determining the most effective welding method for each task
  5. Plan the sequence of welding operations to maximize accessibility, ensuring that the final welds are performed last on complete assemblies for optimal efficiency
