Joby Aviation is seeking a Wiring Systems Engineer for their Flight Research team to develop electrical wiring systems on new aviation projects. The role involves designing architecture, components, assemblies, and installations, building test articles, manufacturing assemblies, installing them, and running tests in a rapid prototyping environment. The engineer will work with a cross-functional team on new development projects, gaining exposure to other disciplines and technologies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Generate architecture and power distribution diagrams and analyze tradeoffs
  2. Select electrical components from COTS catalogues and custom designs
  3. Perform voltage and ampacity analysis
  4. Design electrical system installations in CAD and 2D drawings
  5. Manufacture and install electrical designs into aircraft

Skills

Required

  • B.S. in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or relevant discipline with 3+ years of experience, or 5+ years of experience in lieu of a degree

Nice to have

  • 8+ years of working experience in relevant industry
  • Proficiency with Catia (Electrical 3D Design, Electrical 3D Part Design, Electrical Manufacturing Preparation, Assembly Design, Part Design, Generative Shape Design)
  • Familiarity with EWIS aerospace standards (SAE AS50881, AC 43.13 Ch.11, ASTM F2639)
  • Understanding of ERP/MRP/PLM solutions
