Workday Engineer to design, build, and operate systems powering HR workflows at OpenAI. This role requires strong Workday expertise combined with engineering fluency to build integrations, improve system architecture, automate workflows, and connect Workday to internal tools, external platforms, and AI-driven systems. The engineer will use modern developer workflows, including Git and CLI-driven tooling, and partner with cross-functional teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, build, and maintain Workday integrations, applications, and workflow automations across domains such as payroll, benefits, recruiting, performance, and case management
  2. Improve the reliability, quality, and scalability of People systems through strong engineering, testing, and operational practices
  3. Build technical solutions that connect Workday with internal platforms, external vendors, and AI-powered tooling
  4. Contribute to more agentic internal workflows by helping design systems that combine HR data, automation, orchestration, and intelligent tooling
  5. Use Git-based development practices, code review, and structured change management to deliver safely in a fast-moving environment
