API Specialist

This role focuses on supporting and improving the performance of Booking.com's API ecosystem by analyzing API performance, supporting partner integrations, and turning data into actionable improvements. The API Specialist will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams, monitor API metrics, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to scalable solutions. They will also help onboard new partners, improve documentation, and explore efficiency gains through automation and emerging technologies like AI.

What you'd actually do

  1. Monitor and analyze API performance metrics for assigned partners
  2. Identify patterns, issues, and opportunities to improve partner performance
  3. Support the development and improvement of dashboards and monitoring tools such as Grafana and OpenSearch
  4. Support API partners and internal teams with technical questions and troubleshooting
  5. Help onboard new partners and guide them through integration processes

Skills

Required

  • Basic experience working with APIs
  • 1–3 years of experience in a relevant field such as operations, support, analytics, or another technical or problem-solving role
  • Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity to get to the root cause of issues
  • High attention to detail and a structured way of working
  • Confidence working with data and identifying patterns or inconsistencies
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn, improve, and make an impact
  • Strong interest in learning how systems integrate, product and performance optimization

Nice to have

  • Experience with Postman or similar API testing tools
  • Exposure to dashboards or monitoring tools such as Grafana, OpenSearch, or similar
  • Understanding of JSON or XML
  • Experience working with partners or cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience improving processes, documentation, or workflows
