This role is for a Business Development Manager at Toast, focused on growing the Toast Retail platform. The manager will hire, train, and coach a team of outbound business development professionals, driving sales activities and revenue creation. The role requires strong leadership, sales management experience, and an entrepreneurial mindset. While Toast uses AI tools internally and in its hiring process, this specific role is not directly involved in building or deploying AI/ML models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Hire, coach and manage a team of Business Development Representatives (BDR) to exceed quota.
  2. Lead by example in demonstrating Toast’s core values and inspiring a culture of high performance, respect and fun.
  3. Manage day to day activities of the BDR team including: live coaching, career and skill development, monitor productivity metrics to identify opportunities and risks, and ultimately drive results on activity, opportunity generation and revenue creation.
  4. Keep a tight focus on outcomes, impact, and productivity, and report results to senior growth sales and marketing leadership.
  5. Work closely with cross-functional partners on the Retail Sales Team, such as managers and account executives, to ensure proper alignment on opportunity quality.

Skills

Required

  • Management experience with a proven track record of hiring, retaining and developing individuals and team
  • Experience working in and building business development teams that drive opportunities and revenue.
  • An ability to adapt amidst rapid growth and change.
  • Experience achieving and exceeding goals (as individual or manager) and building and managing key metrics for a sales organization.
  • Self motivated, creative, empathetic, flexible with the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Proficient in CRM systems (Salesforce)
  • An entrepreneurial and feedback-driven mindset.
