Cad and Fabrication Specialist

This role is for a CAD and Fabrication Specialist who will be responsible for creating and optimizing designs for fabrication and construction, developing 2D and 3D models, and overseeing fabrication processes including CNC operations and 3D printing. The specialist will manage 3D printing operations, plan fabrication methods, program CNC machines, and maintain digital fabrication equipment. The role also involves team coordination and workflow management using CAD software like SolidWorks, Creo, or Fusion 360.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as the primary CAD designer, creating 2D and 3D models for approved projects.
  2. Manage all 3D printing operations, including modeling, file preparation, printing, post-processing, and machine maintenance.
  3. Determine primary fabrication methods for each project based on discussions with managers and leads.
  4. Run CAM operations and program toolpaths for CNC machines, including the CNC router, hot wire, and Frog Mill.
  5. Ensure all digital fabrication machines (CNCs, 3D printers, and laser cutters) are properly maintained and running efficiently.
