Controllership AI & Automation Intern

This internship role focuses on supporting AI and automation initiatives within Controllership processes. The intern will help identify opportunities, map workflows, define requirements, and develop solutions using AI and automation tools, with a focus on improving speed, quality, and scalability. The role involves hands-on building and documentation for audit readiness, aiming to deliver a working solution within a 3-month engagement.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support the identification and scoping of AI/automation opportunities within a defined Controllership process area (e.g., Accounting Operations, Revenue Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax, or Internal Audit)
  2. Participate in stakeholder meetings to understand current-state workflows, pain points, and requirements — and help translate them into solution options
  3. Help build documentation that supports SOX/audit readiness: process flows, control mapping, test evidence, and usage guidelines
  4. Assist with testing, UAT coordination, and rollout support for solutions developed during the engagement
  5. Present findings, progress, and recommendations to Controllership leadership at the close of your engagement

Skills

Required

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Familiarity with financial accounting concepts
  • Strong communicator who can translate between Finance stakeholders and technical teams
  • Able to gather context quickly, work independently within a defined scope, and deliver within a fixed timeline

Nice to have

  • hands-on experience with data or AI tools
  • experience with SQL, Python, or Excel
  • Exposure to or genuine curiosity about AI tooling (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor)
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI workflow tools
  • Exposure to ERP or financial close systems (NetSuite, SAP, D365, Oracle, or similar)
  • Experience with business intelligence or automation tools (e.g., Power Query, Alteryx, Power Automate)
  • Prior internship experience in finance, accounting, or a data/engineering role
