Group Product Manager for Betterment's Broker/Dealer organization, responsible for product strategy for trading and market data systems. This role involves setting the long-term vision for back-end investing platforms, managing PMs, and partnering with engineering and stakeholders to enable growth, maximize efficiency, and minimize risk in a regulated financial services environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Oversee product teams responsible for our trading and market data functions, fundamental to our role as a trusted wealth manager for clients
  2. Define the multi-year vision for how our platform should evolve to meet growing business needs and architectural goals, including new asset class support, real-time data expansion, and added security classification models
  3. Manage PM(s) embedded in the trading and market data domains, providing strategic direction, development feedback, and organizational context to help them succeed
  4. Develop success metrics for your product area, create tracking plans, and clearly communicate how prioritized work impacts those metrics.
  5. Collaborate with numerous partners, such as Capital Markets, Custody, Investing, Operations, and Legal & Compliance, to navigate complex client situations and stay ahead of regulatory obligations

Skills

Required

  • Product management experience at a financial services or financial technology company with a focus on back-end systems and applications
  • Deep expertise in and passion for financial concepts such as portfolio management, order routing, trade execution workflows, FIX protocol, and securities data management
  • Strong storytelling skills to distill advanced Broker/Dealer concepts into accessible information for partner organizations, stakeholders, and executives alike
  • Technical fluency: able to engage meaningfully with engineers on systems design, data modeling, and architectural tradeoffs
  • Experience managing or mentoring other PMs, with a track record of growing product talent and maintaining strategic coherence across a multi-team domain
  • Creative problem-solving skills to deliver innovative functionality within regulatory and technical constraints.
  • A self-starter with proven success in launching products in collaboration with a broad set of stakeholders
