Lead, Proactive Trust & Safety Operations

This role is for a Lead in Proactive Trust & Safety Operations at Snap. The individual will investigate violations of community guidelines, identify trends, develop solutions, and work cross-functionally with product, legal, and engineering teams. Responsibilities include conducting investigations, developing training, optimizing tooling and processes, and ensuring product launches are supported. The role requires strong analytical skills, experience with data querying (SQL), and experience working with product and engineering teams to develop trust solutions. It is not directly involved in building or researching AI/ML models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Identify trends and patterns by reviewing, analyzing and synthesizing information from internal and external sources, and propose safety solutions informed by these findings
  2. Become a subject matter expert in a range of abuse areas, including those involving sensitive content such as child sexual exploitation
  3. Conduct thorough and objective investigations into violations of our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service
  4. Support ad hoc safety-related projects in accordance with business needs
  5. Anticipate project risks, negotiate with decision makers, and balance business needs with technical constraints

Skills

Required

  • Comfort working within a content moderation environment
  • Ability to problem solve, both independently and with peers, and to structure ambiguous business challenges into actionable plans
  • Strong analytical skills, including working with large, complex data sets to solve business problems, and providing actionable business insights via data visualization software (Advanced Excel/Sheets, Looker, Grafana, etc.)
  • Experience using data querying languages, including SQL, to support investigative work
  • Background working effectively with cross-functional teams and management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively and appropriately within all levels of the organization
  • Ability to prioritize, focus and thrive in a dynamic work environment, and to adapt to evolving business needs
  • Process driven individual with a proven track record of developing and implementing new processes and identifying opportunities to improve or build on existing processes
  • Great judgment and excellent leadership skills
  • Experience investigating criminality or abuse, on or off-line
  • Experience working with product and engineering teams to develop tools and solutions that improve trust across a platform or product
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in technology, safety, or a related field
  • Flexible work-hours: full-time and weekends as needed
