This role is for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer II at Axon, focusing on ensuring product and process quality in their Kassel facility. Responsibilities include supporting manufacturing operations, leading root cause investigations, managing non-conforming materials, developing inspection plans, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), analyzing quality data, partnering with manufacturing engineering, participating in audits, supporting supplier quality, and contributing to Lean Manufacturing initiatives. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent experience, 5+ years in manufacturing quality, experience with quality tools (RCA, CAPA, 8D), familiarity with manufacturing quality processes, ability to interpret technical documents, cross-functional collaboration experience, and strong analytical skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support manufacturing operations by ensuring product and process quality across incoming materials, in-process controls, and final product verification.
  2. Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D and RCA.
  3. Manage non-conforming materials and support MRB disposition processes with cross-functional teams.
  4. Develop and maintain inspection plans, AQL sampling strategies, and quality documentation.
  5. Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities including validation plans, PFMEA development, and process control implementation.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality or production quality engineering.
  • Experience with structured quality tools such as root cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and 8D problem solving.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing quality processes including inspection planning, FAIR or PPAP documentation, and statistical process analysis.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured and data-driven approach.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
