Mechanical Engineer for Snap's Spectacles team, focusing on AR technologies, micro-displays, and opto-mechanical/electromechanical system design from concept to production. What you'd actually do

  1. Lead development of new product designs, systems, and processes with a primary focus on micro-displays and subsystems related to AR technologies
  2. Perform opto-mechanical and electromechanical system design from concept through production
  3. Drive troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and validation of complex mechanical systems and assemblies
  4. Execute complex tolerance analyses for precision opto-mechanical assemblies
  5. Plan and execute design of experiments (DOE) and apply design-for-manufacturing (DFM/DFA) principles

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in product design and development
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using SolidWorks within the last 10 years
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using Siemens NX within the last 10 years
  • Ability to accommodate up to 20% travel (domestic and international)

Nice to have

  • Experience with near-eye devices, augmented reality (AR), camera modules, and/or display technologies
  • Experience designing small, precision mechanical systems requiring high stability under complex thermal and mechanical loading
  • Proven experience designing and validating thermal management solutions
  • Materials expertise relevant to electronics and display packaging, including low-stress adhesion and thermal interface materials
  • Advanced experience performing complex tolerance stack-ups and sensitivity analyses
  • Highly proficient in GD&T application and interpretation
  • Extensive knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes including machining, molding, casting, sheet-metal, materials processing, and rapid prototyping
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation (Flow Simulation a plus)
  • Proficiency in operating and programming advanced dimensional inspection equipment to develop robust, high-volume production measurement routines
  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and system integration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
