Mission Engineer - Pasco County, Florida

Axon Axon · Enterprise · United States · 1570 GSS TAM SW

This role involves being an embedded engineer within a strategic account (Pasco County, Florida) to build, ship, and drive adoption of AI-powered solutions using Axon's platform. The engineer will translate agency problems into compliant, working tools such as AI agents, workflows, automations, and integrations, focusing on end-to-end ownership from deployment to adoption and optimization. The role requires hands-on building, iterating in the field, applying responsible innovation guardrails, and measuring the impact of deployed solutions on agency operational outcomes. It emphasizes building with Axon's AI Era platform, including agents, workflows, prompts, RAG, and evaluations, and ensuring these solutions stick in production.

What you'd actually do

  1. Discover agency problems onsite and translate them into buildable, compliant solutions tied to mission outcomes
  2. Design and ship working tools on Axon's platform: AI agents, workflows, automations, integrations, and data pipelines — built and tested with real users and real data
  3. Build and deploy AI-powered workflows (agents, prompts, RAG, evaluations) that solve defined agency problems — not generic experimentation
  4. Iterate in the field until adoption sticks, then document patterns for reuse across accounts
  5. Troubleshoot onsite and coordinate root-cause resolution across Product, Engineering, Support, and Services when builds or integrations break

Required

  • Experience in customer-facing technical roles, program management, operational transformation, or complex deployment environments
  • Proven builder: you have shipped working automations, agents, workflows, integrations, or AI-enabled tools in customer environments
  • Comfort working across technical and operational domains: hardware, software, cloud, AI-enabled technologies, and integrated systems
  • Strong communication with both technical teams and senior stakeholders
  • Full ownership mentality in ambiguous, fast-changing environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CJIS compliance and adhere to security standards

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Records, Evidence, digital workflows, AI-enabled platforms, or integrated public safety ecosystems

What the JD emphasized

  • ship working software, not slideware
  • proven builder: you have shipped working automations, agents, workflows, integrations, or AI-enabled tools in customer environments — configuring products, writing integration logic, and delivering production-ready solutions. Using AI to assist is expected; owning the build is required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CJIS compliance and adhere to security standards

Other signals

  • building and shipping AI agents, workflows, integrations, and data pipelines
  • deploying AI-powered workflows (agents, prompts, RAG, evaluations)
  • customer-facing technical roles with proven builder experience shipping working automations, agents, workflows, integrations, or AI-enabled tools
