Optical Quality Engineer for Spectacles hardware team at Snap, focusing on supplier collaboration for optical component quality, DFM, FAI, Cpk, MSOP, MSA, reliability testing, and ensuring components meet ok2ship criteria. What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with the Optical component suppliers on DFM, and lead efforts on FAI, Cpk, MSOP, MSA, Reliability testing, and ensuring components meet the ok2ship criteria.
  2. Develop and enable metrology recipes, solutions and methods to collect a wide range of optical parameters (e.g.illumination, radiometry and photometry, geometric optics, statistics, and polarization)
  3. Align supplier OQC and CM IQC inspection criteria and methods, setup limit samples as needed
  4. Perform component qualifications through the PPAP process.
  5. Address material-related issues, implement mitigation strategies, and drive Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) with suppliers.

Skills

Required

  • Expertise in lenses, mirrors, prisms, coatings, and other optical components.
  • Proficient in optical metrology techniques and standards.
  • Knowledge in molding or lamination or CNC or semiconductor backend assembly / test.
  • Experience in the optical manufacturing process, especially those involving optical systems or components.
  • Conduct components PFMEA, IPQC, OQC, FAI, Cpk, MSOP, GR&R, and Reliability testing through the PPAP process.
  • Strong expertise in Failure Analysis and Problem-Solving skills with knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC and Quality tools.
  • Proficient in data analysis using tools like JMP and Minitab.
  • Knowledge and experience of reliability tests (environment tests, drop/tumble, UV, chemical, abrasion...etc.).
  • Strong knowledge and experience on supplier quality control and supplier management.
  • Conducted supplier quality system/capability assessments, and performed audits to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Team player, able to prioritize duties, discipline and work well on your own.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Optical engineering, Metrology, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of supplier quality engineering experience of optical components.
  • Knowledge of high accuracy optical measurement methods such as interferometers, spectrometers, profilemeters, MTF testers, and other optical testers.
  • Knowledge of developing optical metrology and lens metrology.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using tools like JMP, Minitab.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication in both Mandarin and English.
  • Familiar with Six Sigma or statistical methodologies.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a specialized field like Optical/Metrology/quality engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in optical component quality control.
  • Hands-on experience of high accuracy optical measurement methods such as interferometers, spectrometers, profilemeters, MTF testers, and other optical testers.
  • Hands-on experience of developing optical and lens metrologies.
  • Certifications in optical design or metrology.
  • Deep understanding of GD&T.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using tools such as Python and AI technologies.
  • Six Sigma green or black belt certification.
  • Experience working collaboratively with both internal and external partners, domestic and overseas.
