Senior Director, Commercial Operations- Quoting

This role leads Axon's domestic quoting function, optimizing the quote creation lifecycle and ensuring pricing accuracy, process rigor, and customer experience. It involves leading policy development, process design, and change management, collaborating with Sales, Finance, Legal, and IT. The role also involves managing a team of 20 quoting professionals and driving system enhancements, including AI-enabled standardization initiatives, to improve the quote-to-cash lifecycle.

What you'd actually do

  1. Oversee quoting operations, ensuring quotes are accurate, compliant with Axon’s pricing standards, and aligned with revenue recognition requirements.
  2. Support customer data accuracy, process transparency, and operational efficiency throughout the commercial lifecycle.
  3. Collaborate with Global Process and IT teams to deliver system enhancements that improve accuracy, scalability, and visibility across the quote-to-cash workflow.
  4. Manage and mentor a team of approximately 20 quoting professionals aligned to Axon’s domestic sales end markets.
  5. Establish performance dashboards for key metrics, including quoting accuracy, deal approval cycle times, and SLA adherence.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in pricing, quoting, revenue operations, or commercial finance.
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role with a demonstrated track record of driving cross-functional initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in pricing strategy, CPQ platforms, and SKU/portfolio management.
  • Proven success leading SKU simplification or product rationalization programs at scale.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to model pricing scenarios and quantify business impact.
  • Background in industries with high SKU complexity such as manufacturing, industrial technology, or B2B distribution.
  • Executive presence and the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across Sales, Product, and Finance without direct authority.
  • Strong people leadership with a track record of building, coaching, and retaining high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional change management skills — able to lead rationalization efforts and build organizational buy-in.
  • Data-driven decision-making with strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complexity, both in product structure and process design.
  • Proven success in process transformation and automation initiatives.
  • Strong business partnership mindset, with a genuine commitment to putting customers’ needs first.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with Sales and go-to-market functions.

Nice to have

  • Experience leading a large team, including a shared services function, within the Quote-to-Cash cycle at a publicly traded company.
  • Deep expertise in SaaS or subscription-based commercial models; hardware experience is a plus.
  • Experience with government contracting, partner ecosystems, and distributor relationships.
  • Familiarity with revenue recognition standards (ASC 606).
  • Proven track record of measurably improving quote-to-cash cycle times and deal velocity metrics
