What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as the primary strategic finance business partner for Instacart Business and Instacart Health, becoming an expert by gaining a deep understanding of how we drive growth and solve user problems.
  2. Partner with and influence Instacart leadership (Product/Eng, Data Science, Sales/Commercial teams and C-suite) to develop high-level strategy, formulate business plans, pricing, and evaluate resourcing and profitability trade-offs.
  3. Work on business problems that involve uncertainty, bringing structure, data, and sound judgment to propose a clear and executable plan.
  4. Produce executive-ready narratives and materials for business reviews, planning cycles, and leadership updates; communicate complex analyses with clarity and conviction.
  5. Facilitate strategic planning in collaboration with cross-functional partners, sizing new opportunities, prioritizing initiatives, and implementing performance measurement processes.

Skills

Required

  • 4+ years of experience in strategic finance, corporate finance, business operations, investment banking, management consulting, or private equity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Advanced financial modeling in Excel or Google Sheets; demonstrated ability to build models and reporting from scratch.
  • Proficiency with SQL and BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau) to self-serve analysis and automate reporting; experience leveraging AI or scripting to streamline workflows.
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly respond to problems independently and proactively address conflicting stakeholder requirements to achieve creative compromise.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a track record of producing executive-ready materials.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.

Nice to have

  • Masters degrees in business and/or a quantitative discipline (e.g. economics, statistics) and background in marketplace or early stage companies are a plus.
