Apptronik is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and develop their Apollo humanoid robots across the full product lifecycle, from concept through production and sustaining. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet performance, reliability, cost, safety, and manufacturability requirements, owning significant subsystems, and providing informal mentorship.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and develop mechanical components, subsystems, and assemblies
  2. Own designs from concept development and prototyping through production release and sustaining
  3. Perform design trade studies and support technical risk reduction
  4. Apply DFMA principles and support manufacturing readiness and production ramp
  5. Plan and execute verification and validation testing for assigned designs

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in a related mechanical engineering role
  • Proven ability to independently own and deliver mechanical subsystems or features
  • Strong experience with DFMA, manufacturing processes, and production support
  • Proficiency in mechanical analysis methods, including FEA and analytical calculations
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, verification, and validation testing
  • Solid understanding of materials selection, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Experience integrating mechanical designs with electronics, software, and motion systems
  • Knowledge of regulatory, safety, and compliance considerations
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to team technical standards

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with tooling, fixtures, automation, or test equipment design is a plus
