Senior Radio Frequency Engineer II

Axon Axon · Enterprise · Office, WA · Axon EVG_R&D

This role focuses on the design and development of advanced wireless connectivity solutions for Axon's product portfolio, including Body-Worn Cameras and in-vehicle systems. The Senior RF Engineer II will own RF architecture and implementation across various wireless technologies, from module integration to chip-down cellular designs, ensuring robust performance in mission-critical public safety environments. Responsibilities include hands-on design, validation, performance optimization, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior engineers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the RF design and integration of high-performance wireless subsystems for compact, battery-powered portable and vehicular products (drones, automotive-mounted systems, mobile devices, action cameras)
  2. Actively contribute to the hands on design and optimization of chip-down RF circuitry and integrated modules for technologies such as LTE, 5G, GNSS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth technologies, ensuring robust performance across complex multi-radio systems
  3. Own the RF system architecture and execution from concept through mass production, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and software engineering
  4. Partner with antenna engineers to select, evaluate, and integrate antenna solutions—printed, PCB, or metal—into high-density product designs
  5. Conduct RF system debugging, interference mitigation, and receiver desense analysis to optimize real-world performance
