Software Engineer, Cash App - Lending Products

Block Block · Fintech · CA · Remote · 10102 Engineering - Cash App

Software Engineer for Cash App's Lending Products team, focusing on building and scaling financial products related to credit access. The role involves partnering with cross-functional teams, developing APIs, ensuring uptime, latency, regulatory compliance, and cost-efficiency, and operating existing services. While the role mentions an 'AI-first mentality' and 'agentic engineering', these appear to be tools or concepts to leverage within a traditional software engineering context for financial products, rather than the core craft of the role itself.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner closely with credit risk, legal & compliance, product managers and other engineers to take the Lending capability to the next level.
  2. Lead or contribute to projects from hypothesis to production capability, ensuring ownership of the output quality.
  3. Build financial primitives by acting as an IC or lead on atomic, composable, API-level building blocks that serve the Block's intelligence layer.
  4. Take a developer-centric approach to designing and building clean APIs, optimizing strictly for uptime, latency, regulatory compliance, and cost-per-transaction.
  5. Operate and manage existing Cash services.
