This role is for a Sr. Project Manager focused on the permitting process for Axon's ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) infrastructure deployments. The primary responsibility is to navigate and accelerate permitting across multiple jurisdictions in the U.S., ensuring compliance with regulations like NEC, NFPA, and local zoning laws. The role involves engaging with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), managing end-to-end permitting workflows, identifying and mitigating risks, and collaborating with internal teams (engineering, legal, deployment) and external agencies. The goal is to enable compliant, high-velocity installations of ALPR infrastructure.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build and maintain proactive relationships with permitting and zoning officials nationwide
  2. Own end-to-end permitting workflows across multiple states and municipalities
  3. Identify permitting barriers early and implement mitigation strategies
  4. Act as a core partner to engineering, deployment, legal, and customer success
  5. Interpret, anticipate, and influence local and regional permitting dynamics

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years managing infrastructure, utility, or construction permitting in enterprise or public-sector environments
  • Demonstrated expertise with NEC, NFPA, zoning, environmental regulations
  • Track record of influencing internal stakeholders and external regulators
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and process-building capabilities
  • Proven ability to lead in complex, multi-jurisdictional environments
  • Skilled communicator across technical and government audiences
  • Able to secure buy-in and resolve conflicts with AHJs
  • Success collaborating across engineering, legal, compliance, and field teams
  • Fast-paced environment readiness and change agility

Nice to have

  • PMP, ICC Permit Technician, OSHA 30, NFPA, LEED preferred
  • Proficiency in GIS, CAD, Asana, and permit tracking systems
  • Large-scale permitting leadership across jurisdictions
  • Deep code knowledge (NEC, NFPA, zoning, environmental)
  • Public safety, DOT, or utility permitting experience preferred
  • Advanced risk management and issue resolution
  • Permitting workflows for high-volume infrastructure rollouts
  • Proficiency in tools like Smartsheet, Excel, and Asana
  • GIS, CAD, blueprint interpretation
  • Permit and document control systems
