This role is for a Sr. Tax Accountant at Smartsheet, focusing on global tax strategy, compliance, reporting, and research. Responsibilities include preparing tax workpapers, VAT returns, conducting tax research on international issues, managing tax depreciation, and assisting with tax projects. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of tax experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and tax research software.

What you'd actually do

  1. Prepare workpapers for foreign income tax returns, quarterly estimated payments, and foreign-related US filings and calculations
  2. Prepare value added returns (VAT), estimates, and accruals as we expand our global reach and filing obligations
  3. Conduct tax research on international issues in multiple areas, including foreign R&D, Pillar 2, BEAT, foreign tax credits, and transfer pricing
  4. Prepare account reconciliations and/or journal entries for all international tax related general ledger accounts
  5. Manage tax depreciation for foreign entities, including processing multi-currency asset entries, performing detailed rollforwards, and calculating adjustments for tax provision and returns

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years tax or accounting experience in a public accounting firm or equivalent experience in a large corporate tax department
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient in online tax research software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
