Staff Desense Engineer

Snap Snap · Consumer · Los Angeles, CA +1

This role focuses on developing and implementing RF desense solutions for Spectacles, a hardware product. The engineer will collaborate with various teams, conduct rigorous testing, characterize desense issues, and identify system performance bottlenecks related to RF and antenna performance. The role requires strong fundamentals in RF, antenna, EMI, EMC, and coexistence engineering, along with knowledge of wireless communication standards and board-level design strategies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and implement innovative RF desense solutions (hardware and software) to ensure robust system performance
  2. Collaborate with RF, antenna, electrical, mechanical, and software teams to integrate RF systems into Spectacles products and ensure compliance with performance standards
  3. Conduct rigorous lab and OTA testing of RF systems, perform sensitivity and coexistence testing (LTE, 5G, WiFi, GNSS, Bluetooth, etc.), and validate performance against industry standards
  4. Characterize desense caused by internal aggressors (CPU, memory, power converters, displays, etc.) and external interferers. Trace root causes using probes, shielding tests, grounding checks, and layout reviews
  5. Identify system performance bottlenecks (impacts) due to antenna, RF board, assembly dependencies, multi-radio operation, etc.
