Staff Solutions Engineer

Solutions Engineer role focused on driving complex partner and merchant integrations for Block's commerce experiences (Afterpay, Cash App Pay, etc.). Responsibilities include designing and delivering technical solutions, building proof-of-concepts, troubleshooting, acting as a technical advisor, and collaborating with product/engineering teams. Requires deep technical expertise with APIs, full-stack development, and customer-facing experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner with Sales & Account Management to support sellers integrating with our platform, and co-sell Cash App Afterpay's Developer Platform.
  2. Design and deliver technical solutions, including building proof-of-concepts, custom reports, sample integrations, and troubleshooting complex issues.
  3. Be a trusted technical advisor - translating business requirements into scalable integration approaches and advocating for best practices.
  4. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to surface partner feedback and influence the roadmap.
  5. Create compelling demos, presentations, and technical deep dives for both executives and engineering.

Skills

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in technical customer-facing roles (partner engineering, solutions architecture, sales engineering, or similar), working with enterprise merchants or global partners.
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise - comfortable building with APIs, debugging integrations, and guiding developers through complex implementations.
  • Prior professional experience with full-stack development and proficiency in at least one programming language.
  • Experience leading technical projects end-to-end in globally distributed, multicultural teams.
  • A willingness to travel for onsite client meetings (10-20%)
