Betterment is seeking an experienced Sales Executive for their West Coast territory, focusing on driving growth in the advisor custody space by identifying, engaging, and closing new business with RIAs and financial advisory firms. The role involves business development, client relationship management, sales strategy execution, territory management, collaboration with cross-functional teams, market expertise, and reporting/forecasting. What you'd actually do

  1. Identify and pursue new sales opportunities with RIAs, financial advisors, and other wealth management firms within the West Coast region
  2. Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with prospective and existing clients, acting as a trusted partner to help them leverage Betterment Advisor Solutions’ custody solutions
  3. Develop and execute a sales strategy that aligns with company goals, market demands, and client needs, ensuring consistent performance in meeting or exceeding revenue targets
  4. Proactively manage your sales pipeline, identifying and prioritizing key opportunities within the West Coast territory, while managing time effectively across a wide geographic region
  5. Work closely with the product, marketing, and customer success teams to ensure a seamless experience for clients and prospects, from first contact through onboarding

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of sales experience in the financial services industry
  • Strong background in advisor custody or related sectors (e.g., RIA platforms, custodians, asset management, fintech solutions)
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and building relationships with RIAs and financial advisory firms
  • Deep understanding of the advisor custody landscape, including regulatory requirements, operational challenges, and competitive offerings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present complex solutions in a clear and compelling manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and trust quickly with clients
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and drive results in a remote, territory-based role
  • Comfortable using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce), presentation tools, and other technology platforms essential to the sales process

Nice to have

  • Experience working with RIAs or wealth management firms in the West Coast region
  • Familiarity with the Betterment Advisor Solutions platform and/or digital advisory solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
