Technical Services Manager

This role is for a Technical Services Manager at Axon, focusing on the post-sale deployment and customer support of Axon's Fleet systems, which include network, hardware, and software solutions. The role involves leading installations, managing third-party contractors, providing customer training, and troubleshooting technical issues related to IP-based networks and 12-volt electronics in vehicles. While the company may use AI, this specific role is not directly involved in building or researching AI/ML models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and coordinate Fleet installations, ensuring efficiency and a positive customer experience.
  2. Keep 3rd party installers and Axon customers updated on installation status through daily reports and stand-up meetings.
  3. Deploy hardware and software solutions in a dynamic environment with minimal assistance.
  4. Provide guidance to customers on optimal hardware placement, tailoring solutions to enhance workflows and ensure compliant data collection.
  5. Conduct training sessions for both technical and non-technical staff on the use of Axon Fleet and Interview solutions.

Skills

Required

  • Experience programming IP-based Ethernet networks and devices, including layer 2, LAN, WAN, and VPN configurations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of 12-volt electronics, basic wiring diagrams, DC circuit theory, mechanical dexterity, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with 12V power distribution, relays, fuses, and circuit breakers.
  • Experience with vehicle lighting systems, including emergency lights and sirens.
  • Knowledge of 12V battery systems, including battery isolators and auxiliary battery setups.
  • Familiarity with vehicle communication systems, including CAN bus and LIN Bus.
  • Ability to conduct diagnostics and repairs or replacement of faulty equipment, wiring, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to quickly understand and troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
  • Proven team leadership skills, supporting customers and third parties to achieve objectives.
  • Previous experience in leading a team or contractors on multiple projects with successful outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication skills, professionalism, and ability to work both within a team and independently.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

  • Emergency Vehicle Technician or EVTCC certifications
  • Understanding of Cradlepoint, TCP/IP layers, local area networking, and physical layer infrastructure
  • Familiarity with data transfer concepts, WAN access types, local area networking, physical layer infrastructure, wireless technologies, access point networks, and virtual private networking.
  • Experience with law enforcement agencies
  • Ability to work safely and skilfully with hand tools.
  • Desire to work with a team or visit clients in person weekly.
